Savory Fried Cabbage Recipe

This fried cabbage recipe is a delightful side dish that pairs perfectly with any main course. It’s quick to make and bursting with flavor!

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: cooked bacon or sausage for added flavor

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the thinly sliced cabbage to the skillet. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is wilted and starts to caramelize around the edges, about 10-12 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle the paprika and dried thyme over the cabbage, and season with salt and pepper to taste. If using, crumble cooked bacon or sausage into the skillet for added flavor.
  6. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld together and the cabbage is tender but still has a slight crunch.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  8. Serve hot as a delicious side dish alongside your favorite main course.

Enjoy your savory fried cabbage!
