Mini Cheesy Scones Recipe

These delightful mini cheesy scones are perfect for any occasion, whether you’re hosting a brunch or looking for a savory snack. Packed with cheesy goodness, they are sure to be a hit with family and friends.

2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for topping)
  • Freshly ground black pepper (optional, for topping)

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.
  5. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined.
  6. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk and egg mixture. Stir until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.
  8. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) thickness. Using a small biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass, cut out mini scones and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. If desired, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese and freshly ground black pepper over the tops of the scones for extra flavor.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Remove from the oven and transfer the scones to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
  12. Enjoy these mini cheesy scones warm or at room temperature. They are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.
