Cheesy Spinach Stuffed Shells

  • 1 box (12 ounces) jumbo pasta shells
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups chopped fresh spinach
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)


  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, beaten egg, chopped spinach, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  4. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Stuff each cooked pasta shell with a generous spoonful of the spinach and cheese mixture, then place them in the baking dish in a single layer.
  6. Once all the shells are filled and arranged in the baking dish, pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top, covering the shells completely.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the shells are heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and slightly crispy on top.
  10. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
